Now, on to the blog...
Today, after I (shamefully and wonderfully) slept until 11:30am, I realized that A.) I tend to squander the days that I don't work and B.) The cash flow is getting seriously sparse. So I cruised over to my favorite website Craigslist and started searching the "Jobs" section.
of THIS (wrong skill set); I finally found something that was more geared toward what I can do!
Here's the Ad:
Title: Fitness Assistant (Beaches)
Body: Boxing gym is looking for healthy, outgoing, enthusiastic individual to assist and sometimes participate in member/customers workouts.Experience in boxing is not necasary, knowledge will be provided as needed by mgmt. This position is part time, schedule as follows:M-F-4:00pm til 9:00pm.Location of Gym allows for bus pick up and drop off (public transportation). Great second job with ability to workout yourself and be paid. If interested
contact Chris @ 555-5555.
So, for those of you who don't know, I got my degree at FSU (GO NOLES) in exercise science. So this is right up my alley. I mean, not the boxing part and certainly not the grammar, but I can exercise with the best of them! AAAAND I know how to make a mean personal training program...for anybody who needs one! (With a small fee attached).
So long story short, I went to see the guy at 4pm today, he seemed surprised that a girl would call about the job and also I think, that I look the way I do. He kept saying, "You know we don't have an air conditioner" and "You're going to sweat a lot here." I was just thinking, well buddy, you haven't seen anybody sweat until you've seen me sweat. I've got Chris Farley beat in that arena! Inappropriate overshare there, sorry. I ended up getting the job on a trial basis...I still think he doesn't believe I will actually sweat, but my glandular activity aside, I start Monday and I am super excited!
Part 2:
If I have to hear "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter one more time I'm gonna shoot somebody. For the remainder of the evening tonight I am the lucky guardian of one three year old, two five year olds, a seven year old and an eight year old. Oh ok, he just told me he's eight and a HALF.
These kids love to play a game called, "Sing Star Pop". For you old timers, it's a new-fangled version of Karaoke that rates you as you sing. I'm having flashbacks to high school choir competetions...aahh! Only one of these boys can actually read, mind you...so they are singing the three or four songs they know the best over and over and over. I have to laugh a little bit because their extensive repertiore includes: Bad Day (of course), Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (a favorite of mine and all gay men from here to Istanbul), and I Just Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston.
My ears are being assailed, but I can't help but smile at the cuteness and innocence of little boys who would rather sing slow rock ballads and gay pop songs than anything else. Love it.

"When in doubt, sing loud."

Part 1: Congrats on your new job. I know it will be hard cutting back on your 14 hours of sleep per day down to perhaps a measly 8 or 9, but it will be totally worth it!
Part 2: Aren't children wonderful? It is a bit strange that a group of boys would spend endless hours singing gay songs. Shouldn't they be outside shooting BB guns, playing football or something along those lines?
